Update To Firefox 3.6
|
You should be able to upgrade to Firefox 3.6 beta version on 16th October. Firefox 4.0 will be released next year. Lot of add-ons which currently in Mozilla Labs might be integrated with Firefox 4.0 and the upgrades with 3.6 seem to be moving in that direction of integration.
The new version will come with tweaks which improve the TraceMonkey javascript engine, an ‘optimized session restore’, plus additions to the CSS technology in the browser and improved page rendering speed.
Install Firefox 3.6 Beta1Pre In Ubuntu For A Huge Speed Boost:
Remember, this is just beta pre so there may be some bugs. If you are convinced to upgrade to Firefox 3.6, here’s what you need to do to install it in Ubuntu. Open a terminal and paste the following commands.
1. Add the Ubuntu Mozilla Daily PPA:
sudo sh -c “echo ‘deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa/ubuntu karmic main’ >> /etc/apt/sources.list”
Replace karmic in the line above with jaunty, intrepid or hardy, depending on your Ubuntu version.
2. Add the GPG key:
sudo apt-key adv –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com –recv-keys 247510BE
3. Install Firefox 3.6:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install firefox-3.6
You will then find Firefox 3.6 (Namoroka), under Applications > Internet > Namoroka Web Browser. Thats it.
